“A bar for bar lovers, located underground from whence so many of the things we hold dear emerge.”

Long before the revitalization of downtown Raleigh and the now active bar scene -- weird, fun things were happening underground at The Ruby Red, a former artist collective and warehouse. Run by a plethora of artists, musicians, activists, and weirdos, Ruby Red parties and events were known for their wild flare and tangible energy.

In 2014 Ruby Red founders, collaborators, and patrons banned together to invest and open a bar that captured the vibe of the warehouse, as well as, paying homage to the spirit of former Raleigh hot spots like The Jackpot. The vision for Ruby Deluxe manifested in Raleigh and North Carolina’s need for more queer event spaces and bars that were inclusive to all bar lovers. The mission for the bar was to host events and parties incorporating everyone who identifies under the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.
Ruby Deluxe opened for business in August of 2015. ViZ Queer Dance Party, featuring a focus on queer DJs spinning queer artists and producers were among events that were extremely popular. The bar presently hosts a variety of queer dance parties, live music, drag shows, film screenings, specialty DJ sets and burlesque.
